　The People's Republic of China instituted many economic reforms in 1978 to move China towards a more market based economy than in previous years. Reforms put into place by Deng Xiaoping resulted in the opening of China's economy to the world. China has averaged 10% economic growth every year since the beginning of Deng Xiao Ping's reforms started over thirty years ago. Beijing holds a unique place in China's development due to its role as China's capital city; and as Beijing continues to be among the fastest growing and most developed cities in China its unemployment rates remain low and schools continue to open, opening great teaching opportunities to westerners.
